Interior minister: Over 300 terrorist attacks prevented in Turkey

This year, 347 terrorist attacks have been prevented in Turkey, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said.

In 2017, 697 terrorist attacks were prevented in the country, Trend reports referring to the Turkish media.

As a result of the measures taken in Turkey, the number of terrorists of the Kurdistan Workerschr("39") Party (PKK) has sharply decreased.

Earlier, Soylu said that up to 700 PKK terrorists remain in Turkey's southeastern mountainous parts.

The minister underlined that Turkey is determined to fight PKK.

Soylu said that for the last two years (2017-2018), the Turkish Air Force eliminated 732 PKK militants.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
