MEDIA calls out deepfake video as attempt to undermine Azerbaijan–Türkiye relations

A video created using deepfake technology on behalf of Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, does not reflect reality, reads a statement by the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan (MEDIA), Olaylar informs.

It was noted that the fake video was disseminated through several accounts operating on social media platforms: "This example of disinformation, prepared with the help of AI and aimed at misleading public opinion, serves to damage relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, undermine the existing strategic alliance between the two brotherly countries, and erode mutual trust.

We call on society to trust only information provided by official sources, and urge journalists and public activists to always demonstrate principled positions against such cases. In an environment where fake and false information campaigns and the trend of content creation through deepfake technologies are gaining momentum, vigilance is essential."

MEDIA also called on social media platform owners and relevant institutions to take measures for the prompt removal of harmful and fake content and to implement effective mechanisms to prevent such cases.
