Tokayev announces upcoming visit of Azerbaijani President to Kazakhstan

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that preparations are underway for a visit to Astana by Azerbaijan"s President Ilham Aliyev, Olaylar informs.

Tokayev made the remarks during his annual address to the nation at a joint session of Parliament on Monday.

"Later this year, I will make official visits to Russia and Uzbekistan. Visits to Astana by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkmenistan are also being prepared, along with planned meetings and negotiations with heads of several Asian, European, and African countries," Tokayev said.

He noted that the current year has been marked by a number of significant anniversaries.

Commenting on the global situation, Tokayev emphasized: "For lasting peace and universal progress, compromises must be sought-'a bad peace is better than a good quarrel." Kazakhstan therefore welcomed the outcomes of the Russia-US summit in Alaska, as well as the signing of the peace declaration between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington under the mediation of President Trump."
