Uzbekistan proposes joint Caspian energy projects with Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan
16:11 EnUzbekistan has proposed that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan explore prospects for cooperation in geological exploration and development of offshore fields in the Caspian Sea, Olaylar informs.
The proposal was made by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday during a high-level trilateral meeting in Turkmenistan with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Mirziyoyev also expressed Uzbekistan's interest in developing its own ferry infrastructure to transport goods across the Caspian Sea.
"To ensure energy security, the need for deeper cooperation and the development of export corridors for energy resources to third countries was emphasized. In this regard, the project for supplying green energy to Europe was highlighted as promising. As for traditional hydrocarbons, the possibility of joint geological exploration and development of offshore fields in the Caspian was proposed," the press service of the Uzbek President noted.
