Russia strikes facility supplying Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine
16:20 EnRussia launched a massive drone attack on a gas transmission facility near the Romanian border, Olaylar informs citing the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy that the station was a key transit point for gas supplies to Ukraine from the United States and Azerbaijan.
The attack occurred during the night of August 6, when Russia carried out a targeted strike on a gas infrastructure facility - a compressor station operated by Ukraine's Gas Transmission System Operator in the Odesa region, near the Romanian border.
This compressor station was part of a route connecting Greek LNG terminals with Ukrainian gas storage facilities via the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, which has already been used for LNG supplies from the United States and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas.
"This strike by Russia targeted civilian infrastructure, deliberately aimed at the energy sector and at the same time against relations with Azerbaijan, the United States, and European partners - against the normal life of Ukrainians and all Europeans," the ministry's statement said.
