Umayra Tagiyeva: Azerbaijan will continue to strengthen climate ambitions within COP29 presidency COP29

Azerbaijan, as the COP29 chair, will continue to provide a platform for effective measures to combat climate change, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Umayra Tagiyeva said at the World Environment Day in Jeju, Olaylar informs.

The deputy minister reminded that in November last year, the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was successfully held in Baku under the leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"As the COP29 Chair, we will continue to provide a platform to strengthen ambition and action on climate action. We believe that the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), namely the Baku Financial Goal, and cooperation under Article 6 [of the Paris Agreement - ed.] will contribute to global efforts to combat climate change. COP29 also highlighted the key role of cities in advancing climate action and addressing environmental challenges," Tagiyeva added.
