Erdogan approves Türkiye-Azerbaijan natural gas co-op agreement
18 Aprel 10:48 EnTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has ratified the Cooperation Agreement on Natural Gas between the Governments of Türkiye and Azerbaijan, Olaylar informs via the Official Gazette.
The agreement was initially signed on May 14, 2024, in Istanbul, and later ratified by Azerbaijanchr("39")s President Ilham Aliyev on July 8, 2024.
Under the agreement, the parties highlight the ongoing successful collaboration between Türkiye and Azerbaijan in the energy sector and express a shared commitment to further strengthen this partnership. They recognize the critical roles of both nations in enhancing energy security and diversifying energy supply sources for European countries.
Additionally, the sides underscore the achievements of joint projects such as the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline System (TANAP), the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Main Export Crude Oil Pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Gas Pipeline, and the natural gas trade from the first and second phases of the Shah Deniz field. The agreement also includes provisions for further cooperation in related areas.
