Protest erupts in two Armenian villages over transport issues

Residents of Kasakh and Proshyan villages in Armenia staged a protest, blocking the Ashtarak-Yerevan road, to demand immediate action on transportation difficulties facing their communities, Olaylar informs via Armenian media.

"Taxes and fees have been increased, and now they're raising transportation fares. To make matters worse, they're bringing back the old chr("39")GAZelle,chr("39") where passengers are packed together like sardines. These minibuses are also unsuitable for disabled individuals. The reduced number of vehicles means longer wait times, and the round trip fare has been set at 700 drams ($1.78)," explained the protesters.

On April 9, a meeting was held between villagers and government representatives, where it was announced that two vital transportation routes connecting Kasakh and Proshyan to Yerevan would be canceled, further exacerbating the situation.
