UN Human Rights Council to hold event on Western Azerbaijan

 

To date, 53 projects related to Western Azerbaijan have been implemented with the financial support of the Agency for State Support to NGOs, Aygun Aliyeva, the executive director of the agency, said at a public hearing on the role of NGOs in the return to Western Azerbaijan held in the Milli Majlis, Olaylar informs.

According to Aliyeva, 51 projects were declared winners this year, and a total of 667,000 manats ($392,352) were allocated for those projects:

"This year, a side event on Western Azerbaijan will be held at the next session of the UN Human Rights Council."

Aliyeva recalled that in 2024, projects submitted by 29 non-governmental organizations on the process of return to Western Azerbaijan were declared winners within the framework of grant competitions:

"A total of 374,050 manats ($220,029) were allocated to finance these projects. Within the framework of the projects, various events related to Western Azerbaijan have been organized in Azerbaijan, Belgium, Türkiye, Russia, the Netherlands, and Uzbekistan. Films, websites, TV shows, books, and reports have been prepared".

The agency executive director stated that three articles on the work done to address the genocide and deportations of Western Azerbaijanis, the restoration of their rights, and the implementation of the Concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan, and the destruction of historical and cultural monuments in Western Azerbaijan, were published in the media of the US, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, Türkiye, Algeria, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, and Kuwait.
