Azerbaijan and Georgia are implementing strategic projects for Europe's energy security

 

Azerbaijan and Georgia make an important contribution to Europechr("39")s energy security, and the jointly implemented Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, as well as the Southern Gas Corridor are considered strategic projects in this regard, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov told the Fourth International Silk Road Forum held in Tbilisi, Olaylar informs.

He said that the Southern Gas Corridor made it possible to directly transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe: "A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Azerbaijan and the European Commission in July of last year, and according to the document, the volume of natural gas supply from Azerbaijan will be doubled by 2027."

The Prime Minister noted that at the same time, today Azerbaijan and Georgia are starting to build a green energy bridge to Europe: "In this regard, the Agreement on strategic partnership between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary was signed in Bucharest last December. Bulgaria has already expressed its intention to join the project. We hope that this project will make an additional contribution to the energy security of many European countries."
