Erdogan to send humanitarian aid to Libya
12 Sentyabr 2023 11:52 EnTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed solidarity with Libya over the death of more than 2,000 people as a result of severe flooding, Olaylar informs referring to Anadolu Agency.
In his publication on social network X, Erdogan expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
"Türkiye stands with the people of Libya," Erdogan wrote.
He noted that the Turkish authorities decided to send three planes with 168 rescuers and humanitarian aid on board to Libyan Benghazi.
Storm Daniel has hit several areas of eastern Libya. The hardest hit cities were Benghazi, Al Bayda and Al Marj, as well as Soussa and Derna.
The death toll due to the natural disaster in Derna has exceeded 2,000 people, with thousands of people still missing.
