Inam Karimov: In Azerbaijan ensured freedom of media

Freedom of media in Azerbaijan is secured both by legislation and judicial practice, Chairman of the Supreme Court Inam Karimov said at the meeting with media representatives within the framework of the Femida dialogue platform.

He recalled that Azerbaijan joined the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the Convention has been an integral part of the countrychr("39")s legislation ever since.

"So, the case law of the European Court is accepted by local courts as part of the Convention and is widely used in practice. That means that the freedom of media is ensured by our countrychr("39")s courts in accordance with the standards of the European Court," Karimov said.
