For past 30 years, Iran has practically turned a blind eye to occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia
31 Mart 2023 17:27 EnThe statement of the Iranian Foreign Ministry is yet another step against Azerbaijan, Spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Aykhan Hajizada said, commenting on todaychr("39")s statement of Iranian Foreign Ministrychr("39")s Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani.
As reports Olaylar, responding to Kanaanichr("39")s remark regarding the speech of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov during the briefing as part of the visit to Israel, Hajizada noted that the minister did not voice any anti-Iranian position at this briefing.
"We declare that Azerbaijan has never allowed its territory to be used against third states.
"On the contrary, Azerbaijan has heard threats and seen provocations from Iran lately. Examples include Iran's military exercises along the borders with Azerbaijan, anti-Azerbaijani statements by Iranian officials, and the terror attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran. We also note that, according to the preliminary investigation, the traces of the terror attack against MP Fazil Mustafa also lead to Iran.
"Today, the Iranian-Armenian brotherhood remains a threat to the region as a whole. For the past 30 years, Iran has practically turned a blind eye to the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia. Iran did not attach importance to the occupation of Karabakh and East Zangazur and the plunder of these territories, the destruction and desecration of 65 out of 67 existing mosques.
"In connection with the above, we strongly condemn the statement of the press secretary Naseer Kanaani. This statement is another step towards the crisis in the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.
"These threats from Iran cannot frighten Azerbaijan in any way. Despite the military support sent to Armenia from the territory of Iran, the Azerbaijani army defeated the Armenian army in 2020. Any aggression and provocations against Azerbaijan will be resolutely suppressed even after that," the statement says.
