Azerbaijan to produce 3 billion kWh of energy from renewable sources

"The launch of the Garadagh solar power plant in Azerbaijan will help prevent emissions of 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year and we will save a lot of natural gas," Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said, Olaylar informs.

According to Shahbazov, the new plant will increase Azerbaijan annual electricity generation to 3 billion kWh from renewable energy sources.

"Today, we signed several memorandums with Masdar of the United Arab Emirates, and these documents are in line with our green economy strategy. We also want to implement a pilot project on the use of solar panels on roofs in the Garadagh district of Baku. In the future, we will consider the implementation of this in Karabakh," the minister added.
