Coronavirus live: Travel for tourism from UAE 'not yet permitted'

The Emirates reported 402 new cases after 62,028 more tests as further details on travel were announced

Travel for tourism or leisure is not yet permitted from the UAE, authorities said on Wednesday as they outlined procedures for people wishing to leave the country. However, residents are able to visit their home country and return to the Emirates.

During Wednesday's briefing, officials announced 402 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country's total to 49,069.

The death toll from Brazilchr("39")s coronavirus outbreak exceeded 60,000 on Wednesday, as cases in the country approached 1.5 million. With 60,610 fatalities, Brazilchr("39")s toll is the second highest in the world after the US.

Global confirmed cases reached 10.6 million on Thursday, according to the Johns Hopkins coronavirus tracker, with more than 515,000 deaths. Global recoveries stand at 5.4 million.
