Azerbaijan to start to hold auctions on renewable energy sources

Azerbaijan will start to hold auctions on renewable energy sources by mid-2020, Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said.

Shahbazov made the remarks at a panel session entitled "Keeping energy ties in unstable world" within the Russian Energy Week forum, Olaylar reports.

"As a supplier of both oil and gas, Azerbaijan is thoroughly working on development of renewable energy sources," he said. "We have recently developed a new bill. It will be adopted by the end of this year."

"By mid-next year we will start to hold auctions on renewable energy sources," Shahbazov added. "Therefore, I would like to use this opportunity and share this information with you. I would like to invite all of you to come to Azerbaijan and participate in these projects."
