Azerbaijan increases non-oil exports

Azerbaijanchr("39")s non-oil exports reached $1.689 billion in 2018, which is 10 percent or $151 million more compared to 2017, Ramin Huseyn, an analyst at the Center for the Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications, said at press conference on Feb. 1, Trend reports.

The major part of exports from Azerbaijan as of 2018 accounted for tomatoes ($177.4 million), while unprocessed gold came in second with $118 million, followed by persimmons with $114.5 million.

The total value of exported fruits and vegetables in 2018 amounted to $560 million, showing an increase of 11 percent compared to 2017. Exports of plastic products amounted to $118.6 million (an increase of 17 percent), while aluminum exports reached $112.2 million. Exports of ferrous metals amounted to $86.2 million (an increase of 4 percent).

Meanwhile, electricity exports reached $65.6 million (an increase of 29 percent).

Azerbaijan exported cotton fiber worth $80.5 million (an increase of 49 percent) and cotton wool yarn worth $24 million in 2018.

Compared to 2017, exports of cotton yarn increased 2.4 times.
