Rights of asylum seekers in Azerbaijan are subject to legal regulation - court chairman

Rights of every asylum seeker in Azerbaijan are regulated by the law regardless of his or her status, Chairman of Baku Administrative and Economic Court No. 1 Rashid Rzayev said on Feb. 27.

According to him, a number of asylum seekers appealing to local courts upon decisions of the State Migration Committee grows every year.

"The court reviewed 8 appeals in 2015 and 11 appeals in 2016. In 2017, 38 appeals were reviewed, twice more than before. In just 2 months of 2018, 11 appeals were submitted. Until today, 30 appeals have been rejected," Rzayev said.

He noted that appeals are mainly submitted by citizens of Afghanistan, Turkey, Iran and Russia.
