First trilateral ministerial Azerbaijan-Turkey-Pakistan kicks off

The first trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan, Elmar Mammadyarov, Mevlut Cavusoglu and Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has kicked off in Baku.

This was announced on the official twitter page of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

"We held very intensive consultations," said Mammadyarov at a joint press conference with the foreign ministers of Turkey and Pakistan.

"This first trilateral meeting is another milestone in our relations. We agreed to increase the trade turnover. We support each other in international organizations and also intend to intensify cooperation in the defense sphere," noted the Azerbaijani minister.

Cavusoglu, for his part, noted that the next meeting of the three countries' ministers will be held in Pakistan in 2018.

Mevlut Cavusoglu also confirmed the need for deepening cooperation in the defense sphere.

"We intend to bring the trilateral relations of Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Turkey to a higher level," said the Turkish foreign minister.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, for his part, noted that Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Turkey have great potential for increasing the trade turnover.

The next meeting of the three countries' foreign minister will be held in Pakistan in 2018.
