An earthquake measuring 5.7 points on the open-ended Richter scale was registered on Tuesday in the area of Kamchatkachr("39")s Avacha Bay.

The residents of the Kamchatka territorychr("39")s capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky felt the quakes measuring 2.0 points to 3.0 points, the territorial branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences told TASS.

"The epicenter of the earthquake that occurred at 15:17 local time (04:17 UTC) was located 88 km away from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the Avacha Bay water area," a source at the Geophysical Service told TASS. "The seismic focus lay some 84 km under the oceanic floor."

No victims or destructions have been reported but eyewitness reports said suspended items of furniture and decoration swung and utensils clanged during the quake.
