Armenia continues shelling Azerbaijani positions
Over the past 24 hours, Armenia’s armed forces, using large-caliber machine guns, have 124 times violated the ceasefire along the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said Aug. 11. Azerbaijani army positions in the Kohnegishlag village of Aghstafa district, as well as in Farahli, Gushchu Ayrim, Mezem villages of the Gazakh district underwent fire from the Armenian army positions located in Shavarshavan village and on nameless heights of the Noyemberyan district, as well as in Paravakar, Berkaber villages and on nameless heights of the Ijevan district of Armenia.

Over 35 journalists detained in Turkey
More than 35 journalists, suspected of having links with the Fethullah Gulen movement, have been detained in Turkey, local media reported on Aug. 10. Reportedly, detained journalists used a special communication program – ByLock, which was widely used by supporters of the Fethullah Gulen movement.

Turkmenistan, UN mull refugee issues
Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with the delegation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Office, the ministry said. The delegation was led by UNHCR Regional Coordinator for Central Asia Yasuko Oda, who noted Turkmenistan’s active role in humanitarian issues and successful results in resolving issues of refugees and stateless persons. The sides discussed preparations for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in September 2017 in Ashgabat, as well as participation of the refugee team in this sporting event.
Islamic Treasury bills spark passionate interest among Iranians
Iran’s short-term Islamic bonds also known as Islamic Treasury bills have recently become the most desirable commodity for the country’s traders. "Over the past years the government in a move to reduce its debts, in particular to contractors, has issued thousands of the Islamic bonds," Mehrdad Seyed Asgari, Norway-based Iranian financial analyst, told Trend. "The contractors who have difficulties, due to the lack of cash and cash flow, sell-off the bonds, offering generous discounts to entice the traders," he added.
Ukraine starts buying oil from Iran
Ukraine from June 2017 started buying crude oil (according to foreign economic activity code 2709) from Iranian contractors, according to the State Fiscal Service, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
Turkey, Serbia mull security issues
Security issues were discussed between Turkey and Serbia during the visit of Head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Hakan Fidan to Belgrade, the Turkish media reported Aug. 8 citing a diplomatic source. Reportedly, Fidan met with Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic during the visit. “During Fidan’s visit to Serbia, the migration of illegal refugees to Serbia was also discussed with President Vucic,” reported the Turkish media. Prior to that, Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Omer Celik said that, Turkey doesn’t see the grounds for preserving the migration agreement with the EU.

Children with disabilities at the international tournament
Children’s Paralympics Committee, established with the support of Azercell Telecom LLC successfully continues its operation, thus the Committee now includes 6 kinds of sports: judo, swimming, table tennis, wrestling, boccia and dancing in wheel-chair. At present, 32 children practice boccia in Mardakan and Ganjlik rehabilitation centers, 40 children go in for swimming in Sumgait Paralympic Center, 6 children practice table tennis in Garadagh tennis school and 32 sportsmen exercise judo in Sumgait Paralympic Center. Additionally, there are 20 people practicing wresting in the building of the Society of Blind People and 1 person going in for dancing in wheel-chair in the dancing hall of AF Mall. Furthermore, a group of paralympians had a medical check-up and treatment and attended the training camp in Gashalti Hotel, Naftalan with the support of Azercell in June.
