San Diego proclaims May 28 as “100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic Day”
The City of San Diego, which is the second-largest city in the U.S. State of California and eighth-largest in the U.S., has proclaimed May 28, 2018 as “100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic Day” in the city. Presented by City Councilmember Christopher Ward, the proclamation was signed by San Diego Mayor, City Council President and all City Councilmembers. In the proclamation, which was sent to the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, it is stated that “following the October Revolution in the Russian Empire, the Azerbaijani people established the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on May 28, 1918.”

Azerbaijan’s non-oil industry continues to grow
Azerbaijan’s non-oil industry grew by 10 percent in January-March 2018, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev said. Mustafayev made the remarks in Baku May 25 at the conference dedicated to the Day of Entrepreneurs. The minister added that the figure for 2017 was 3.7 percent.
Los Angeles celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic
An event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) was held in Los Angeles on May 23, 2018. Hosted by the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, the event was attended by over 400 guests, including elected officials of California and Los Angeles, representatives of the U.S. State Department, Consuls General and Honorary Consuls, faith leaders, media representatives, scientists, cultural figures (including Hollywood celebrity Cheech Marin), members of the local Azerbaijani community, as well as leaders of Jewish, Turkish, Pakistani, Iranian, Korean, Hispanic and other communities.
